Bay Village is a beautiful and historic neighborhood. It is located between several more commonly known Boston neighborhoods including Back Bay, The Theatre District, and South End. This neighborhood is also within walking distance of Chinatown.
This neighborhood is mainly comprised of residential housing. The homes in this area offer visitors an opportunity to enjoy many styles of classic architectural periods. The townhouses located here are typically either from The Federal Period or Greek Revival era. Many of the single family homes are fashioned in the English Neoclassic style.
One popular landmark that is located here is The First Corps Of Cadets Armory. It is commonly referred to as "The Castle". The building first housed the Corps of Cadets, who were organized to protect the governor of the state in 1741. The building was then used by the National Guard until 1960.
